kenduri seni patani

I am participating with curator Sawa Takahi in a project called “rebuilding theater” at KENDURI SENI PATANI held by Patani Art Space in the deep south of Thailand.

A Japanese-language article on KENDURI SENI PATANI has been published by Kotaka Takruro, an artist also participating in the Art Festival.

Also, we had a roundtable discussion on youtube about the event !

Re building theatre

Curated by Haruka Iharada and Sawa Takashi

Outline

This space is a temporary theatre, based on the concept of connecting people who are trying to ‘re-build’ various broken things in the world with you. Sometimes, because of the many difficulties in the world, what is important to us, what we need, can be broken at a certain time. A nation or city, or a place for peace and rest for everyone, such as a family home or a studio for creative art-work.Moreover, a society where human rights are protected and freedom of expression exists, democratic social systems and elections.

To survive in a broken world, it is necessary to ‘rebuild’ something that has been broken by difficulties that cannot be solved alone. This theatre screens a selection of video works that capture the people who are engaged in this kind of creation with hope. The programme shown at the theatre is constantly updated and changes over the duration of the festival. We encourage you to visit the theatre several times.

Rebuilding Theater is a video exhibition specially composed for the festival by curators Haruka Iharada and Takashi Sawa. Works and documentaries by several artists and collectives will be screened.

*The theatre will play a selection of short video works. Depending on the time of day, the films played may change or be added to the programme.
